Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Workshop: Design Thinking

Our Senior School pupils recently had the exciting opportunity to take part in a dynamic Design Thinking workshop led by the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), one of the world’s leading creative institutions.

The session introduced pupils to the Design Thinking process – a powerful framework used across industries to solve complex, real-world problems. Guided by a SCAD representative, pupils worked through each stage of the model: Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.

Pupils began by exploring how to truly understand user needs through empathy and research, before moving on to clearly defining the problem they were aiming to solve. From there, the room quickly filled with energy as pupils generated creative ideas, challenged assumptions, and collaborated to develop innovative solutions.

Beyond design, the workshop highlighted the importance of human-centred thinking – an approach that is increasingly valued across fields such as business, engineering, technology, and the creative industries. Pupils left with not only a deeper understanding of the design process but also a toolkit of skills that will support them in both their academic and future professional journeys.

A huge thank you to SCAD for delivering such an engaging and inspiring session.
