Guardians
To ensure the welfare and safety of every pupils, Marlborough College Malaysia insists that every boarding pupil whose parents reside overseas must have a suitable guardian living in Peninsular Malaysia or Singapore to act on their behalf. Guardians can be a family member or trusted family friend (aged 25 or over).
While Marlborough College Malaysia takes full responsibility for pupils’ welfare during term time, a Guardian provides additional support and parental oversight in specific situations. If a pupil does not have an appointed Guardian, or if the Guardian fails to meet the School’s expectations, parents will be asked to appoint a new Guardian promptly.
Responsibilities of an Appointed Guardian
- Serve as a 24/7 point of contact for parents, the pupil and Marlborough College Malaysia
- Act with delegated parental authority in emergencies
- Liaise with the child’s Dame (Matron) and House Master or Mistress about holiday and travel arrangements
- Arrange for medical care, when necessary
