New World Youth Championship 2026: The International Business & Economics Video Competition
To celebrate the 140th Anniversary of the Anglo-Chinese School in Singapore, a global competition was launched in conjunction with the Wealth Club of Singapore. Students from across the world were invited to produce and submit a five-minute video to raise awareness of a particular global issue pertinent to economics and business. The video submission had to be linked to one of the key concepts aligned with the IB Diploma Programme, such as sustainability, scarcity, ethics, intervention, or change.
Each institution entering the competition was permitted to put forward one entry for Business and one entry for Economics. The competition attracted interest from over 40 teams from across five continents, with MCM being the only representative from Malaysia.
The Business submission was produced by Ashlee S, Jesse T, Mithrann P, and Zhi Yi S. Their video focused on the issue of fast fashion and the true cost of this business practice and its impact on the environment throughout the supply chain before arriving in a retail space.
The Economics submission was a solo effort, created by Henry S, and analysed how one particular climatic event can have very different economic consequences based on the level of development of a country. In the video, he compares the different impacts of just one hurricane on the economy of Haiti and that of Florida.
It is a pleasure to report that Henry’s submission has reached the final of the competition, which will be taking place on Saturday, 9th May. Henry will be competing against six other teams in the final and also has the potential to win the People’s Choice prize, if enough people view and like his video on the official competition website.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could take a moment to watch the video and vote for Henry to give him a chance to win this prestigious prize.
