Reception’s Stunning Start to Lent Term: Bubbles & Barnacles Day

Bubbles & Barnacles Day marked a stunning start to Reception’s new topic, Under the Sea, immersing our youngest learners in a world of imagination and exploration. From the very beginning of this journey, the children were transported beneath the waves through vibrant costumes, treasure hunts, and sensory water play. These experiences are more than just fun; they are carefully designed to build confidence, collaboration, and a deep curiosity about the natural world.

At Marlborough College Malaysia, we believe that the most meaningful learning in the Early Years happens when children are fully engaged and inspired. Following this excitement, the children will continue to deepen their understanding through high-quality texts such as A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle and the environmentally conscious Somebody Swallowed Stanley by Sarah Roberts. These stories serve as a springboard for developing vocabulary and encouraging thoughtful conversations about habitats and ocean conservation.

To bring these narratives to life, our pupils participate in ‘Drawing Club’. Through this creative approach, they explore characters and settings, strengthening their language skills and creative expression. By combining play-based experiences with rich storytelling and hands-on exploration, we create a vibrant environment where every child feels inspired and eager to learn.
