Bryan Heng Meng Hui
Teacher of Mandarin
Bryan Heng Meng Hui has his P.G.C.E. from National Changhua University of Education, Taiwan. His most recent teaching post was as a Mandarin Teacher in Sri Lanka before joining Marlborough College Malaysia. Over the past 10 years, Bryan has taught Mandarin across a wide range of year groups, from Primary to Secondary, with particular strength in developing innovative approaches to help students master Chinese characters through image-based memorisation and cultural immersion.Bryan’s co-curricular interest is in self-care, where he encourages students to explore balance, resilience, and wellbeing practices that support lifelong growth.The highlight of Bryan’s career has been helping students discover joy and confidence in learning Mandarin, particularly those who begin with little motivation or interest, and watching them grow into curious and capable learners.
Catherine Bullock
Pre-Prep Form Tutor
Catherine Bullock has a Double First in Biological Sciences from Oxford University. She did her P.G.C.E. at Cambridge University, with a special focus on teaching Primary Science. Her first teaching post was in the seaside town of Bournemouth, in the UK. During her 26 years of teaching, Catherine has worked in every year group from Nursery to Year 8, but especially enjoys being a class-based teacher in the Pre-Prep age range. The past 13 years have been spent working at Beechwood Park School in Hertfordshire and Marlborough College, Malaysia is her first international post. Catherine enjoys reading, visiting National Trust houses in England and exploring the beautiful landscape of Malaysia. The highlights of my career have all involved igniting a love of learning in her pupils and seeing children transformed in some way over the course of a term or a year.
Elle White
Year 4 Form Tutor
Elle White holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Exeter and completed her PGCE at the University of Winchester. She has worked across all Pre-Prep and Prep age groups, both in the UK and internationally for 20 years. Elle has a particular passion for teaching Mathematics. She completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Educational Studies with distinction from the University of Winchester, qualifying as a Maths Specialist Teacher. Throughout her career, she has taken on a variety of leadership roles including Maths Leader, Profess ional Development Lead and Assistant Headteacher. This is her second international school experience following teaching in Hong Kong at Discovery Bay International School. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys photography, travelling and musical theatre. She is also currently training in children’s yoga and is excited to bring mindfulness practices to students attending Marlborough College Malaysia.
Geraldine Bentall
Pre-Prep Form Tutor
Gerri Bentall holds a Bachelor of Science in International Business and French from the University of Aston and completed her PGCE at the University of Sunderland. Before joining Marlborough, Gerri gained extensive experience in Singapore, where she worked as an Upper Key Stage Two teacher at both North London Collegiate School and Dulwich College. Outside the classroom, Gerri’s co-curricular interests are vast and varied. She has a love for languages, sports, and, most notably, pure coaching. A true adventurer at heart, she also enjoys the great outdoors and exploring the underwater world through scuba diving. Gerri’s career highlight is completing the International Coaching Federation Associate Coach qualification. This achievement has allowed her to effectively integrate coaching strategies into her daily practice, enhancing student wellbeing and helping children thrive. Gerri is a firm believer in empowering students to be the best versions of themselves, both academically and personally.
James Armstrong
Teacher of English and Mathematics
James Armstrong holds an Upper Second-Class Honours Bachelor of Education Degree in Primary Teaching from the University of Gloucestershire. Over the past 17 years, he has taught Years 3 to 8 across both the UK and Malaysia. His experience includes serving as Housemaster and Acting Head of Prep School at Epsom College in Malaysia, and most recently, as Head of Teaching and Learning at Invictus School (formerly Repton International School) in Johor. James is deeply committed to guiding students to discover and develop their unique talents – whether in the arts, drama, sport, or beyond. A highlight of his career has been helping to shape schools into a true ‘home away from home.’ With many students living far from their home countries, he sees the school as a central part of family life—a place where children feel safe, valued and inspired to flourish. Outside the classroom, James is a keen sportsman who enjoys playing cricket, coaching football, as well as running. He also has a deep appreciation for the performing arts, particularly live theatre and music. He is currently furthering his skills by undertaking the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL).
Oliver Bullock
Deputy Head of Academic, Prep
Oliver Bullock read Theology at the University of Oxford; after a short career in retail management, he moved into teaching and chaplaincy in UK preparatory schools, training as a teacher and gaining his QTS from Roehampton. Prior to Marlborough College Malaysia, he was Deputy Head Academic of Beechwood Park School in Hertfordshire. He enjoys both music and sport, particularly skiing, and is a qualified ski instructor. With 27 years working in schools, he has many career highlights, but is always thrilled by those moments when pupils discover and master a new skill or understanding – the moments when the ‘penny drops’.
Rob Bentall
Second in Department Prep PE and Games, IA Coordinator (Silver)
Robert Bentall studied French and Spanish at the University of Manchester. After four years in Spain, coaching rugby, working with young offenders as a social worker and teaching English as a foreign language, he returned to the UK to complete his PGCE at the Institute of Education, University of London. He continued his educational studies to complete a Masters in Primary Education at the Institute of Education. Prior to joining Marlborough College Malaysia, he worked at NLCS (Singapore) as the Junior School cricket lead and Year 6 Class Teacher. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities, particularly trail running, fishing, water sports, and photography, with a special interest in snakes and birds. Robert’s career highlights include building strong relationships with the children he has taught, collaborating with inspirational teachers, and continuing his own lifelong learning journey in education. This has led him to his current studies of a Masters in Psychology from the University of Sunderland.
Susanne Gibson
Pre-Prep Form Tutor
Susanne Gibson is a dedicated and experienced educator with a Master of Arts in Education (Leadership and Management) and a PGCE from the University of Gloucestershire, which she completed with distinction. Her academic background also includes an honours degree in Applied Languages from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland. Before joining Marlborough College Malaysia, her first international post, Susanne was at Longacre School in Surrey, England, where she held the key positions of both Head of Pupil Progress and Head of Maths, driving academic excellence and tracking student development across the school. Her extensive career has involved teaching a wide range of subjects across all primary age groups, reflecting her versatility and depth of experience. A true highlight of her professional journey was her appointment as Director of Studies, where she was responsible for overseeing and shaping the academic provision of the school. Outside the classroom, Susanne enjoys reading, musical theatre, live music, and cruising. She’s passionate about travel, blogs her experiences, and loves discovering new restaurants. A mother of two and a strong believer in lifelong learning, she particularly values being involved in school residential trips.
Vaish Aditya
Teacher of Art
Vaishnavi Aditya holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Secondary Art Education from the University of Buckingham. She began her academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from M.O.P. Vaishnav College, followed by a Diploma in Fashion Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Her early professional career was rooted in the fashion industry, where she worked as a fashion designer, stylist, and model. Over time, Vaishnavi transitioned into the field of education, combining her creative expertise with a passion for teaching. Before joining Marlborough, she served as an Art Teacher and Art Therapist at V-Excel Educational Trust, a specialised institution supporting gifted and special needs children. She also worked as a visiting lecturer at a design university. Her co-curricular interests include cooking, dancing, painting, and going on long treks. Vaishnavi’s career highlight has been designing and delivering vocational training for special needs students, enabling them to transform their creative talents into sustainable livelihoods as independent young entrepreneurs, a transformation she considers the most meaningful achievement of her professional journey.
Stephanie Knier
Teacher of Mathematics
Stephanie Knier studied Mathematics at Hull University before completing her PGCE at the University of Cumbria. Prior to joining Marlborough College Malaysia, she spent six years teaching in a secondary school in outer London. Stephanie’s co-curricular interests include swimming and playing musical instruments, particularly the flute, which she has played for 16 years. She has a deep passion for problem-solving and finds joy in helping students unlock the logic behind complex mathematical challenges. A highlight of her career has been attending various competitions and keynote speaker events and seeing students of all ages unite to demonstrate their mathematical talent and intrigue.
Laura Robinson
Pre-Prep Form Tutor
Laura Robinson joins the Year 1 team with a strong professional background and close ties to MCM as a parent of four children at the College. She gained her PGCE from the University of Buckingham, building on several years of voluntary work in primary schools in the UK. Prior to taking a career break to raise her family, Laura worked for over a decade as a Specialist Cardiothoracic, Transplant and Neurological Dietitian for the NHS and in the private healthcare sector in England. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh and has enjoyed combining her passions for health and education as a visiting health professional, supporting schools with their PSHE programme. Alongside her commitment to helping support children make healthy lifestyle choices, Laura has a strong interest in Learning Enrichment and is committed to supporting every child to thrive. She enjoys baking, exploring the outdoors, and travelling, and is excited to inspire and support her pupils to develop a love of learning.
