It is an honour and my great pleasure to be the Housemaster of Thompson House. I provide guidance and support for the boys of Thompson House in order for them to develop into well-rounded individuals. Along with my deputy and a fantastic team of tutors, we oversee the pastoral care of the boys during their time at the College. We aim to encourage every boy to make the most of the many opportunities on offer at Marlborough whilst also achieving their full academic potential. Since its creation in 2014, Thompson House has established a strong identity within the College. We look forward to continuing to compete as a House for honours in the many and varied sporting, musical, creative and academic competitions on offer. Our weekly assemblies provide an opportunity to celebrate the successes of both individuals and the House. It also provides an opportunity to develop our sense of community and our support for each other which underpins the Thompson House motto, ‘Non Sibi Sed Omnibus’ (Not for one’s self but for all). I look forward to welcoming you and your son to Thompson House and working with you to support so that he may enjoy his time at Marlborough College Malaysia and fulfill his potential.
Mr Robert Florence | Housemaster, Thompson House
House Moto: Non Sibi Sed Omnibus
House Crest Meaning: Wings – Wings symbolise OM, Sir Robert (Bob) Thompson’s early military career in WW II, of which he was so proud and for which he was highly decorated in the RAF. However, these are not typical RAF wings because he also held an honorary senior army rank during the Malayan Emergency, master-minding a range of counter-insurgency responses before being pivotal in the move towards independence for Malaysia, which he supported, continuing to work as the new sovereign country’s Defence Minister.
