Grit and Growth: Straits Rugby 10s Tournament

On Saturday, 31st January Marlborough College Malaysia hosted the annual Straits Rugby 10s Tournament, welcoming teams from across Singapore and Malaysia for a day of high-intensity competition.

From the Under 11s through to the Under 18s, our squads faced a formidable field of opponents, including Malaysian national champions. The tournament served as a vital “pressure cooker” environment, testing our players’ resilience and tactical adaptability. Despite some challenging scorelines against well-drilled sides, the “Marlborough spirit” was evident in every match.

The day was defined by significant growth: our teams found their rhythm as the games progressed, showing increased defensive intensity and confidence in moving the ball. A particular highlight was the successful integration of younger players into higher age-grade squads, showcasing a level of cohesion that bodes well for the future of the programme.

This tournament provided the perfect preparation for our teams as they head to Kuala Lumpur this coming weekend for the KL Tigers International Junior Rugby Tournament. We wish all our players the best of luck on the international stage.
