Feature Friday – Wati

Please state your position here at Marlborough College Malaysia.

I am currently working as the Dame of Iskandar House at Marlborough College Malaysia.

Could you share a little about your background, family, hobbies, and anything else that’s important to you?

I was born and raised in Malaysia and studied in Johor. Before joining Marlborough, I spent about 6 years working in the hospitality industry, mainly in hotels. I am a single parent with a teenage daughter, Mia. She is kind, active, and enjoys meeting new friends, although she can be a little shy at first. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and keeping things organised and active around the house.

How long have you been at Marlborough College Malaysia?

I have been part of Marlborough College Malaysia for 14 years

Why Marlborough College Malaysia and why Malaysia?

I chose Marlborough College Malaysia because it is a well-respected international school with strong values and a caring environment for students. Being here also allows me to stay close to my roots while working in a diverse and international community.

Can you describe your experiences and achievements in your current/previous role?

In my role, I focus on the wellbeing and daily care of the pupils in the house. My previous experience in hospitality has helped me develop strong communication, organisation, and care skills. I always aim to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all students.

Do you have any new or exciting initiatives or events that you’re looking forward to this academic year?

I look forward to continuing to build a positive house community, organising more activities that encourage teamwork and wellbeing, and supporting students in both their personal and school life.

Is there a message you’d like to leave for the pupils, staff, or parents?

I would like to say thank you for your continued support and trust. My aim is to always provide a safe and caring environment for the pupils. Please feel free to approach me anytime if you need support or have any concerns.
