Small Voices, Big Impact: Year 2 Plastic Protest

This term, Year 2 pupils have been learning about plastic pollution and its impact on our planet and endangered animals as part of their Humanities lessons. On Wednesday, 21st January they proudly put their learning into action by organising a peaceful protest around the school.

Armed with thoughtfully designed posters and placards, the children marched through the school chanting positive messages for change. They were loud, proud and purposeful, confidently sharing their learning with the wider College community as pupils and staff stopped to watch and listen.

The protest concluded at the Master’s office, where the children presented Mr Burbury with handwritten letters. They spoke with confidence and conviction, asking thoughtful questions about how the College can help protect endangered animals and reduce plastic waste.

This inspiring experience was a wonderful reflection of our school values of conversation and compassion. It empowered our Year 2 pupils to use their voices responsibly and showed that even our smallest learners can have the biggest voices – and make a meaningful impact on the world around them.

Miss R Rawlings, Head of Year 2
