The University & Career Guidance Team

Lottie O’Brien
Lottie O’Brien

Head of University and Careers Guidance and Head of Outreach (Senior School)

Lottie is here to advise on the often-complex journey beyond 18, approaching every conversation with a kind and welcoming manner. Drawing on her extensive experience, including her time as a former Careers Lead, she offers in-depth knowledge of the UK university system to make the application process smooth and ensure students feel confident in their choices. Her favourite part of the role is helping students identify their unique transferable skills, ensuring they remain adaptable to the many career pathways that exist now and that will exist in the future. Lottie’s aim is to set up every student with the maximum number of exciting doors open for their future opportunities.

Iain Wilson
Iain Wilson

Oxbridge and Early Entry Coordinator

A Cambridge graduate, Iain has had a varied career including working as a Development Engineer, working as an RAF Officer, and teaching at major schools in the UK. For most of his career, he has advised and supported Oxbridge applicants with varied success – including one tutee who held an offer for Cambridge Maths and a full scholarship to Stanford (she chose Stanford). Iain works individually with every applicant to help them to build the strongest possible application, while advising on their wisest choice. He is passionate about academic curiosity and critical thinking, which led him to be Head of ToK at a previous school, as well as organising Maths extension talks and House Maths competitions.

Marlborough College Malaysia is recognised as one of Asia’s leading schools for pre-university support, advice and outcomes, with a track record of delivering outstanding results.

Consistently high achievement in IB, along with outstanding application support, has meant that MCM former pupils have entered some of the world’s leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, Edinburgh and London School of Economics in the UK; Harvard, Stanford, Brown University, UCLA and Columbia University in the US; McGill, University of British Columbia, and the University of Toronto in Canada; University of Melbourne in Australia; École Polytechnique, France; KAIST in Korea; and NUS and NTU in Singapore. Our pupils are sought-after globally by the very best.

The College delivers a dynamic and personalised University Guidance programme that supports every student from the earliest stages of exploration through to final applications. Our University and Careers Fairs connect pupils directly with world-class institutions and industry experts, while a network of engaged parents adds further depth and real-world insight. Throughout the year, we welcome international university representatives for bespoke talks, ensuring students gain direct exposure to global opportunities.

Students benefit from tailored digital platforms such as Unifrog, which combines psychometric testing with curated careers and subject guidance, while our Lunch and Learn series inspires younger year groups to begin thinking ambitiously about their futures.

In the Sixth Form, students take part in dedicated University Guidance lessons, focusing on application systems worldwide and developing their own individual strategies. For highly competitive pathways, including Oxbridge, Medicine, Law, and Ivy League, we provide intensive, individualised support through super-curricular mentoring, admissions test preparation and mock interviews.

Our approach ensures every student leaves with a clear plan, a competitive profile, and the confidence to thrive in the next stage of their education.
