Life in the Sixth Form at Marlborough College Malaysia is about variety and fulfilment. The co-curricular opportunities are superb. Monday and Wednesday afternoons are set aside for Games, whilst Friday afternoons provide pupils with time to opt for other activities such as Oxbridge Club, university cooking and many more. This provision is strengthened by a programme of morning and afternoon clubs (with a sports or arts focus), evening and weekend activities (that include service and social opportunities) and inspiring talks. Sixth Form students are encouraged to take the initiative and leave a positive legacy; they have led the way in expanding the range of activities on offer, setting up coding, dance and debate clubs, initiating competitions and running coaching clinics.
Trips also enrich the Sixth Form experience. Just after they arrive, the Lower Sixth cohort spend a weekend by the coast for their Core component; this trip is dedicated to integrating new students, building social confidence and collaborative skills as well as introducing the Theory of Knowledge course and CAS experiences. These have included canoeing in Langkawi; trekking in Northern Thailand; an art and design visit to Vietnam; THIMUN conferences in Singapore and The Hague; World Scholars Cup competitions and the US universities trip.
Members of the Marlburian Committee champion Sixth Form issues and organise social events for their peers at the College. From ice breaker dances to the ball, film, quiz and culture nights, the committee ensures that a balance is struck between work and play at Marlborough College Malaysia.
Boarding culture shapes the ethos of the whole school. All students are affiliated to a Boarding or a Day House. Sixth Form students are dedicated to their House families and younger pupils benefit from the inclusive nature of their older peers.
