Year 3 | Lower Prep | 7-8 Years
Prep Year GroupChildren in Year 3 are currently placed in three forms, based in the upper part of the Priory building. As like Year 2 most of the curriculum is delivered by the Year 3 class teachers. In addition to English and Maths a broad range of subjects are included in the cross-curricular including Science, Humanities and ICT. RS and PSHE are also taught in form groups by their Class teacher. Swimming, Music, PE, Design Technology, Drama, Art, Music and Languages are all taught by specialists. During the year there are several special days and trips including Ancient Egypt Day and India Afternoon with the final special event being the residential trip which for some, is the first time many of the Year 3 children have stayed away from home. There is a real focus on Times Tables, spellings and reading independently and these are encouraged at home and or weekends to support work in school. In addition, we have Games sessions which incorporate a mixed gender skills focus and exposure to new games and sports. This is the final year of Pre-Prep for our Year 3’s so the emphasis is placed on independence and taking responsibility for their own actions. This year really places importance on these skills ready for the transition up to Year 4.
