Phil attended Mount St Mary’s College in South Yorkshire before moving across the Pennines to Manchester to complete an undergraduate master’s degree in Chemistry that included a year working for the pharmaceutical giant, AstraZeneca. After deciding against pursuing a career in the laboratory, he enrolled on the Teach First program and spent two years teaching Science and Engineering at Fazakerley High School in Liverpool. Subsequently, he moved to Worksop College in Nottinghamshire where he became Head of Chemistry and completed an MA in Education during his four years there before moving to Marlborough College Malaysia in 2015.

While at Marlborough Collage Malaysia, Phil has taken on the role of IGCSE Exams Officer and Senior School Timetable co-ordinator, coached a multitude of sports teams, and organised the House Challenge competition for our pupils. He is also the reigning champion of the male beak’s event of the ‘Wills Pancake Race’ and a founding member of the all-conquering staff quiz team, ‘Quiz Akabusi’. He is married to Annie and together they spend most of their spare time with their two young children, Ethan and Ezra.
