Welcome to Honan House

It is a huge privilege to be entrusted with the care of these girls at such a pivotal stage in their lives. Along with our excellent tutor team, I will be doing all I can to support them both academically and pastorally. Group tutorials provide a good opportunity for reflection and general issues, whilst one-to-one discussions are valuable for personal target setting and review. Most importantly I strongly encourage all of the girls to be pro-active in approaching me if they ever have an issue, no matter how small they feel it may be.

Maintaining a healthy balance of work, rest and play is key to succeeding in all aspects of school life and I will do my best to encourage the girls to look after themselves through a healthy diet and sufficient sleep, regular exercise and doing things that they enjoy to let off steam, whether this is reading a book, running the Marlborough Mile or just having a good catch up with their friends.

Pupils' Perspectives

Pupil Perspective | Honan House Boarder

Boarding at MCM has changed me to become a more outgoing and active person. I never played sports until I came here. MCM provides a range of activities that vary from mindfulness to touch rugby. Boarding has also allowed me to strengthen my relationships with friends and beaks. I always feel secure around them and if I need any help I can ask anyone.

Pupil Perspective | Honan House Boarder

Boarding in MCM has been a great pleasure for me as it helped me in a lot of aspects such as managing my daily routine and trying out new things. It can be frightening at first as you will have to leave your parents and step into a completely new environment but as time goes by, the fact that you will be going back to a house filled with caring people will definitely make you enjoy boarding.

Pupil Perspective | Honan House Boarder

Life in boarding teaches an individual many important lessons. One learns how to be independent and how to live away from home. We also learn many life skills, essential for adulthood. Boarding is an enjoyable experience as I have the opportunity to spend time with my friends in the various activities that are organised for us, like badminton, mindfulness and yoga. We are also spoiled by all the in-house tutors with food and goodies, often spending Friday nights watching movies and relaxing together. It is definitely a worthwhile experience!

Pupil Perspective | Honan House Boarder

At Marlborough, you can participate in a vast range of activities with the amazing facilities and staff, giving you the best experiences. We have numerous talented pupils as well as staff in this school and it is awe-inspiring to be able to work with these great people. The boarding community has a great atmosphere for everyone and it is very diverse therefore allowing us to learn about the culture.

Pupil Perspective | Honan House Boarder

Boarding life is a great opportunity to not only enjoy a variety of different activities together as a community but also to reach out to our local community, extending goodwill through charity sales, which are all exciting. I particularly enjoyed hosting the Honan House Beak's Talent Show together and was delighted to be a part of Honan's satay sale. Sure, there are challenges at times, but I believe they are there to build our perseverance and to build stronger friendships with one another.
