Over 65 Pupils Shine at Annual Prep Piano Festival

On Thursday, 5th March the Prep School hosted its Annual Piano Festival, a premier highlight of the musical calendar that showcased the incredible talent and dedication of our pupils. With over 65 participants, the afternoon was a beautiful celebration of musical growth and performance.

The festival opened with encouraging words from Mr John Chitambo, Head of Prep Music, who reminded parents and guests of the event’s core mission: nurturing every child’s unique potential.

“This evening is about more than just hitting the right notes,” Mr Chitambo shared. “Children will make mistakes, but it is vital that we do not judge them. Instead, we must allow them to grow through those moments. Mistakes are an essential part of the journey as a musician, and we must remain open to them.”

The event was structured into two distinct sessions to celebrate different stages of musical development: The first part of the day featured pupils from Year 1 to Year 4, many of whom were experiencing their first formal recital with grace and composure. The second session transitioned into an evening gala for Year 5 to Year 8, featuring advanced repertoire that captivated the audience.

It was a thoroughly entertaining afternoon and evening of music. We are immensely proud of every pupil who performed; their contribution made the festival a resounding success. By embracing both the ‘perfect notes’ and the learning moments in between, our pupils demonstrated the true spirit of musicianship.
