Participation in drama-based co-curricular activities is essential for providing a balance of challenge and comfort, constituting a vital component of a holistic education that encompasses the arts.
At Marlborough College, we encourage all students to actively engage in these dramatic pursuits, fostering creativity, honing performance skills, and cultivating a supportive community within the realm of theater and performance arts.
Prep School Drama
In the Prep School, our co-curricular drama programme seeks to involve pupils in a wide variety of performance styles, switching between genres for productions. The department has established a nativity show for Year 4 and an Upper Prep musical for Years 5 to 8. The co-curricular element of Prep School drama at the College aims to strengthen pupils’ understanding and interest in the subject, preparing them for drama study within the Senior School.
Senior School Drama
In the Senior School, we offer the opportunity for pupils to participate in a production, produced and directed by the Lower 6th as part of their IB Diploma; it seeks to increase confidence, develop skills and build community. Remove to Year 13, are able to audition but all who wish to be in the show will participate, either as a main role or as part of the chorus. This is a dynamic, fun and challenging project where pupils learn to lead and model this for future years. The Senior School also offers a Drama Scholarship programme.
