AIMS Challenge Information

On Friday children may wear their PE kit or school uniform. Saturday they should wear their PE Kit. On both days, it is suggested that children wear trainers as elements of the challenge will be physical.

Please ensure your school sends a minimum of one adult per eight children and recommend 1:4 where possible. All staff will be provided with food and drinks as well as a comfortable ‘child-free’ space for break time.

This event is aimed at children who are passionate about maths and will contain challenging tasks that require a secure understanding of Year 5 maths content and can apply this to complex problems.

Staff from MCM will be creating the content for the rounds, these staff will not be in charge of the MCM teams. Teachers from the other schools are requested to be involved in marking papers, adjudicating active rounds and monitoring fair participation.

We will have a photographer (not professional) throughout the challenge who will take official photos of the competitors which will be shared after the event by sharing the drive folder. We will post a photo and description on our MCM social media channels and will share this with your schools so they can do the same.

Thursday evening is designated for your leisure, and no scheduled activities are planned. We are happy to assist you with suggestions for local attractions if needed.

There will be a Risk Assessment for all activities that will be shared with participating schools.

Morning snacks, lunch, and afternoon snacks will be provided on Friday, and morning snacks and lunch on Saturday.

Meals and snacks will be provided in the MCM Dining Hall. Students are welcome to bring their own packed lunch or additional snacks but the cost of food will still be included in the price.

Airport transfers will be the participants’ responsibility. We can provide contact details for our recommended bus provider for you to book and pay directly. Please contact for further assistance.

MCM can provide a shuttle bus to and from the Hotels in Puteri Harbour and Sunway Hotel. We will be unable to provide transport to/from any other hotels and schools should organise this independently.

Hotel Information

For teams travelling a significant distance to participate in the competition, we recommend the 4-star hotel in Sunway City, Iskandar Puteri. Located in Iskandar Puteri, the hotel is only five minutes drive from the College. This area does not suffer from traffic congestion thus ensuring that transfers between the two venues will be swift and smooth.

Sunway Hotel Big Box, Persiaran Medini 5, Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, 79250 Johor DarulTa’zim, Malaysia +607-5336688

An alternative venue is Puteri Harbour, a well-known waterfront development located on the southern coast of Johor. It is situated within 5 minutes of Marlborough College and has a wide selection of restaurants set along a stunning harbour view.
