“Parents have the opportunity to be actively engaged in the life of the school.”
The Friends of Marlborough College Malaysia (FoMCM), is a group of parent volunteers called Ambassadors. The Ambassadors are all from diverse backgrounds and are a supportive network. The aim of FoMCM is to help connect and support the community of MCM parents and Guardians with a unifying purpose of building effective relationships and engaging in activities, which support the College and the experience for the pupils.
To achieve this aim, the FoMCM ambassadors coordinate and organise various events throughout the academic year to help integrate new parents, promote friendships and bring about an expansive community spirit at Marlborough College Malaysia (MCM).
Events or activities that are organised by FoMCM sometimes raise funds. Money raised is channelled back into the College for the benefit of the pupils. These provide non-essential facilities and equipment that will enhance the children’s educational experience at the College. To date, FoMCM has purchased bikes and play furniture and funded the building of Barton Farm. Therefore, it has an inward (towards the College) focus. FoMCM will now start to raise funds for the ‘lake project.’ This is an exciting opportunity to enhance the lake which is on the College Grounds and make it suitable for pupils’ recreational use.
Funds raised by FoMCM differ fundamentally from the MCM Outreach programme, which has an outward focus and raises money for local charities as well as providing an educational platform for the pupils.
There is no limit to the number of Ambassadors, and anyone wishing to take part or help in any way is very welcome. We are also receptive to fresh ideas, so please feel free to contact us at any time at: friendsofmcm@marlboroughcollege.my or use the Contact Us form below.
Updates are always available on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

Parent Ambassadors
The role of Parent Ambassador is entirely voluntary and the time commitment is very much at the discretion of the individual recognising that some parents have more time to give than others. Examples of some of the activities for an Ambassador might include:
- Being a point of contact for other parents in a particular Year Group (Prep School) or House (Senior School).
- Initiating conversations and supporting new parents or guardians
- Helping to address any parental queries from a parents’ perspective.*
*Please note that this is not a school representative role and parents should always be advised to contact the College directly about an issue pertaining to their child.
- Hosting (or arranging for the hosting) of social events, activities, or gatherings for the parents in the respective Year Group or House.
- Liaising with the designated coordinator and Co-Chairs in relation to whole College initiatives eg Nations Day, Christmas Fair, etc.;
- Helping to mobilise participation in project groups from within his or her Year Group or House; and
- Participating in the plans for disbursement of funds raised.
“Being involved with FoMCM is a fantastic way to get to know our school community and to contribute to the ongoing health and well-being of the MCM community.” – FoMCM Ambassador
