Year 7 & 8 Drama | Frozen

As pupils returned from the half-term break, they were greeted with a busy few weeks, highlighted by the much-anticipated Year 7 and 8 production of Disney’s “Frozen.” Held over several matinees and evening performances, the young cast delivered a show that left audiences spellbound, showcasing the magic each pupil brought to the stage.

Although the audience was seated in the Wykeham Hall, they were transported to the enchanting kingdom of Arendelle. The story follows Princess Anna as she embarks on a daring adventure with iceman Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, and the lovable snowman Olaf. Their mission: is to save the kingdom and find Anna’s estranged sister Elsa, whose magical powers have inadvertently placed a curse on the land. Together, they journey across the realm, making new friends and confronting magical challenges at every turn.

The cast integrated seamlessly with the intricate props and scenery. For many Year 7 pupils, this production marked their first experience in a musical of this scale. They worked tirelessly alongside their Year 8 peers, dedicating countless hours to rehearsals. Their hard work paid off, as the energy, skill, and determination they brought to the stage were clear to see. The cast’s captivating dancing, powerful singing, and compelling storytelling resonated with the audience, truly bringing the magic of “Frozen” to life.

None of this would have been possible without the amazing team working tirelessly behind the scenes.   Head of Drama, Nadene James reflecting on the production, said: “From the start all year 7s and 8s contributed to choosing the play and giving ideas about set and costume. I have been blown away by how much support we have had from pupils, staff, estates and parents. The people who always astound me are the amazing pupils who give everything that they can and just “let it go”.

Special thanks are also due to the dedicated pupils and staff who crafted and decorated the stunning props and costumes behind the scenes. The set design, enhanced by breathtaking lighting and live music, played a crucial role in bringing the story to life. Everyone involved in the musical deserves heartfelt congratulations for their outstanding efforts. The production was a magical way to end the Summer Term, leaving the audience eagerly anticipating the next drama performance.
