Summer Serenade Concert 2024

On Friday 14th June, the MCM community came together for the last Prep music event of the school year, the Summer Serenade. This annual concert is a celebration of many musical performances. The Prep pupils have been practising throughout the Summer Term to perfect their pieces and deliver a stunning concert to the large audience in attendance.

The evening began with Ava & Elizabeth performing a flute duet of Tchaikovsky and Pyotr Ilyich. The prelude set the tone for the evening, with its upbeat harmonies. The musical pieces continued with performances from the String Orchestra, Junior Prep Choir, The Concert Band, Prep Choir and the Bunga Raya Ensemble. Soloists included Ellie playing the Cello and Torin on the drums, while Scarlet and True sang a duet.

This was a particularly special concert for our Year 8 pupils for whom it was the final performance of their Prep School lives. To commemorate this transition, a selection of pupils got up and shared a reflection about their time in the Prep school.

The evening ended with a wonderful performance from Year 8 accompanied by Mr Cheng on piano, Mr Isa on bass guitar and Torin on drums. Alongside the Year 8 Choir, they performed Taylor Swift’s ‘Long Live’ an uplifting piece whose lyrics were very fitting “It was the end of a decade, But the start of an age”. A perfect way to end this beautiful evening and a celebration of musical talent.
