Sixth Form Ball 2024

Any student in Sixth Form will tell you, that the highlight of the Lent Term is the annual Sixth Form Ball. It’s the final soiree for both Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth to come together one last time and enjoy the Year group they make up. They have enjoyed several socials and parties over the past two terms but this was the pinnacle. Every year, this ball is themed and this year was no different with a “James Bond” theme that allowed pupils to dress in suave suits and glamorous gowns. The Marlburian Committee have been planning this event for several weeks and worked tirelessly to make the ball a success.  They made sure every detail was accounted for, with a supercar photoshoot, 007 props and a range of live acts on the night.

Students arrived to mocktails and had the opportunity to have their photograph taken with two Aston Martens. Afterwards, they had the opportunity to have photographs taken with friends and see everyones best 007 outfits. Then the doors were opened to the Wkyeham Hall, and it had been transformed, ready for pupils to enjoy the dinner dance extravaganza.

There were speeches between each course of the dinner before the Jazz Band came and performed and was later followed by the Pupil Band who sang some songs. The favourite was Skyfall, which had everyone on the dance floor moving and enjoying the atmosphere.

The highlight of the evening was a performance from BPM, the band made up of MCM staff. They came and mesmerised the students with covers of Harry Styles, and Robbie Williams and ended on Coldplay. It was a wonderful atmosphere and for members of Sixth Form, the night ended on a high, the perfect representation of the past few months spent together.

A thank you to the Marlburian Committee for organising the event, and the Estates and Catering Team for taking the time to transform the Wykeham Hall and prepare the catering for the evening.
