Online Safety Software

We are committed to prioritising the online safety of our pupils here at Marlborough College. In line with the latest updates in the Keeping Children Safe in Education documents, we are excited to announce the rollout of a new filtering and monitoring system across the College. Lightspeed will be implemented for all pupils in Year 3 and above, aiming to promote responsible behaviour online. The new software is designed to enhance our ability to block inappropriate content and strengthen our overall online safety measures. We believe this step will provide a safer and more secure online environment for our pupils to learn and thrive.

If you have any questions please contact (Deputy Safeguarding Lead Pre- Prep), (Deputy Safeguarding Lead Prep School), or (Safeguarding Lead Senior School).

Two upcoming parent events focused on online safety:

  • Friday, 29th March 2024: FoMCM coffee morning ‘Digital Life at MCM,’ where online safety will be a part of the carousel of digital discussions
  • Monday, 20th May 2024: Online Parent Safety Workshop with Jonathan Taylor, an online safety expert with extensive experience in the Metropolitan Police Child Abuse Investigation Command Team (from the UK)

Before and After School (BAS) Clubs | Summer Term

MCM continues to offer a huge variety of Before and After School (BAS) Clubs across the whole College. Beaks run a lot of these clubs, for which there are no additional charges.

However, in order to be able to offer much more specialist coaching and equipment, we have arranged a number of clubs to be run by external professional coaches, (many of which are at the national level), and for these a nominal charge will be levied to cover the cost of the coaching and specialist equipment. Clubs will run from Friday 19th April to Sunday 16th June 2024. They will not run on 1st, 4th or 5th May.

For Prep School pupils, parents will need to sign up for any clubs they choose.

For Senior School pupils, the only clubs listed here are those that require parental approval such as paid clubs or where the pupils will require breakfast or supper.

Kindly take note, once students are signed up for paid clubs, they are committed for the whole term. For clubs where there are limited places, there will be a waiting list.

Should you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact the relevant club Lead Beak, as listed on the sign up form, or

10 Top Tips for Parents and Educators: Encouraging Open Conversations at Home

Cultural and technological changes have made the experiences of today’s children vastly different to our own childhoods; it can be challenging to engage our children in open, honest conversation – especially about more sensitive topics. This, combined with many children’s instinct to avoid “rocking the boat”, can make it difficult to stay up to date with their lives.

However, it’s hugely important that trusted adults still offer an empathetic ear and feel able to encourage young people to open up about their day-to-day activities. This week’s guide provides ten top tips for promoting open conversations with children.
