Lion Netball 2024

The first netball team composed of a blend of A and B players achieved notable success despite formidable opposition in pool B. Despite early injuries, our players demonstrated resilience and fought bravely against top-ranked teams from Singapore. Witnessing the girls’ ongoing development and unity throughout each game was truly inspiring. Their teamwork and determination were admirable, showcasing significant growth throughout the tournament. Notably, Sara’s introduction of rock, paper, and scissors posed a unique challenge for the team. Nonetheless, the team displayed remarkable tenacity and spirit, securing victories and enduring defeats against some of Singapore’s toughest schools.

The day concluded on a high note with the squad emerging triumphant in their final game, evoking tears of joy at the final whistle, especially for those bidding farewell to their netball journey with MCM. It was a touching moment, highlighting the deep bonds and cherished memories formed on the court. As we reflect on the season’s journey, myself and Ms Prentice want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the players for their exceptional efforts and resilience. Their commitment to excellence and unwavering determination have left a lasting impression on the MCM netball community, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

To end the season, MCM’s Netball First VII participated in the U19 Lions Netball Tournament organised by Tanglin Trust School in Singapore. It is undoubtedly a tough competition (considering we are off-season now), with the day consisting of 10 games, which added up to 160 minutes of netball in total.

Each game most definitely brought its own set of challenges, pushing us to our limits and demanding much from us both physically and mentally. Amidst the tournament, one of our main players, Cordelia, even suffered an ankle injury that sidelined her for the remainder of the tournament.

Despite these challenges, the tournament was an invaluable experience for our team and we are proud of the girls for pulling through with endless support for each other. Though we had many lows, we managed to get our spirits up for our final game which ended in a victory.

The end of the tournament was laden with emotions, and tears and felt surreal, as it marked the end of an era for some of us, with it being our last tournament for MCM.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our coaches who have provided us with endless support and well done to the girls for a successful season.
