The MCM Pops Choir and Orchestra

The MCM Pops Choir and Orchestra both had a fantastic start to their musical journey with the first meetings taking place this week. The events were attended by a vibrant mix of staff, parents, and pupils. The evenings were not only a chance to share a love of music but also a way for the MCM community to connect.

The Pops Choir were treated to a warm and welcoming atmosphere, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting musical venture. Mr. Watkins ensured that the event was not just about music but also an educational experience. Participants were introduced to the basics of reading music and everyone took part in some vocal warm-up exercises. This thoughtful approach aimed to make music accessible to all, creating an inclusive environment for beginners and seasoned musicians alike.

The song selection for the evening was a delightful medley of popular music spanning various eras. From the infectious tunes of ABBA to the traditional Chinese folk song Ai Hai Yo, everyone was able to join in no matter their experience. The choir were in safe hands with Mr Watkins leading and Mr Burbury accompanying on the piano.

The Pops Orchestra met the following Sunday afternoon and had another fantastic start. It was truly inspiring to see pupils, parents and staff playing instruments and creating music together. This group was led by Mr Burbury and had a number of musicians ranging from beginners to lifelong players.

As the MCM Pops Choir and Orchestra embark on this musical journey, there is a sense of anticipation for the exciting developments that lie ahead. The diverse musical groups established in the first meeting set a promising tone for future performances and events. Whether you’re a seasoned musician or someone looking to dip their toe into the world of music, MCM Pops Choir and Orchestra offer a welcoming space for all.
