Senior School | MT2023 | Week 14

Dear Parents,

I will use this newsletter throughout the year to keep you informed of activities, trips and other events that are happening around the College.  It is worth all parents bookmarking the news page of the website, as this is where you will see more detail and some photos of these items.

Congratulations to all the pupils who represented MCM at the tournament in Phuket last week.  They presented the College in a very favourable light and we are proud of all of them.

In a new initiative the College’s Head Librarian, Mr Hartshorn, has offered to keep the library in the Senior School open after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays as a trial.  The pupils have been reminded that they should check in with Mr Hartshorn on entering the library and must not leave the library until it is time for them to be picked up.  They are being allowed to use the library as a place to complete their work, and it is not a social space.  If this trial is successful then we will look to extend the opening times on other days of the week.

This weekend is a busy one for the College and I look forward to seeing many of you at the Netball or Rugby Straits on Saturday or at the Christmas Fair on Sunday.

Of course there is little let up after the weekend with Grease performances on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and the festive concert coming next weekend.  Best of luck to all the pupils involved in these.

For Hundred parents the Hundred Full reports have been published to the Parent portal

Lower Sixth parents have received a letter with details of the Parent meeting on Wednesday 13th December.  This is an online parent evening.  Please make sure you sign up for appointments through the link on the letter.  The first 30 minutes of the online talk before will be specifically for those parents who missed Miss Moody’s talk at the Lower Sixth Information Evening earlier this term.  She will cover what we will be doing with each student to help them make university applications and what parents can do to support their child.  From 6.00 – 6.15pm she will answer any questions that parents have regarding university applications.

Yours sincerely,

David Glynn

Head of Senior School
