FoMCM Christmas Fair 2023

On Sunday, 3rd December, the annual Friends of MCM Christmas Fair was held, bursting with festive cheer and vibrant activities. Drawing together pupils, parents, beaks and members of the wider community, the event featured a bustling array of over forty stalls all offering something unique.

As the doors opened at midday, eager pupils swiftly acquired their snowflakes, the designated currency for many stalls at the fair, before immersing themselves in all things Christmassy. The fair was spread over three key areas, the Art Cafe, the Wykeham Hall and The Prep Dining Hall.

The Prep Art Cafe was thoroughly enjoyed, offering a range of activities and games for all to take part in.  From ‘Name the Teddy’ to ‘Festive Golf,’ there was something for everyone including the year-on-year favourite, ‘The Stocks’ which involved throwing wet sponges at beaks. Children indulged in face painting and bracelet making before bouncing gleefully on the popular bouncy castle, capping off the experience with candy floss and popcorn. The highlight attraction was, of course, Santa’s Grotto, where children had the chance of a lifetime to meet Santa Claus and his elves, just in time for Christmas.

The Wykeham Hall was home to various vendors selling a range of festive gifts, homemade keepsakes and one-of-a-kind novelties. With lots of stalls, they truly spanned the breadth of Malaysia. Outside, the Prep Dining Hall had been transformed into a stage for performers, with both the Prep and Senior Choir regaling the crowds with festive singing and instrument playing. It was the perfect hub for Christmas spirit with crowds stopping to enjoy festive refreshments, peruse the various food vendors and purchase seasonal delights like mince pies and mulled wine.

The afternoon proved to be a delightful start to the festive season, creating a sense of community among the fair attendees. Many departed with melodies resonating in their ears, bags filled with festive treasures, and sore cheeks from laughing. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the Friends of MCM for organising this event, arguably one of the most anticipated in the Michaelmas term calendar.
