Russell Group University Fair
On Friday 3rd November, Senior School pupils had the opportunity to attend the Russell Group University Fair. Held in the Prep Sports Hall, the College welcomed delegates from fourteen Russell Group Universities including King’s College London and Queen’s University Belfast. These institutions are highly regarded, ‘research-intensive’ universities based in the UK that offer a world-class education for those who are lucky enough to secure a place.
For those in U6 who are currently holding offers from these institutions, or indeed waiting to hear back, this was an invaluable opportunity to discuss their courses and offers in further detail. Those from Remove to L6 had time to go around the various stalls and talk to a delegate about what the university could offer in terms of course content, career opportunities and university life. It was also a chance for pupils to ask questions and really compare courses so that they could make an informed decision. With IGCSE exams and CAS Portfolios to be submitted in the not-too-distant future, it gave pupils a good reminder about what they are aiming towards.
Last year, 93% of MCM students were able to take up places at their first or second-choice university and these fairs and events are a crucial part in helping students decide on their next steps. It was wonderful to see so many students making the most of this important event.
The feedback from the universities in attendance has been very positive and they truly appreciated a chance to connect with such a high number of our students.
