Prep Music Concert MT2023

On Tuesday 17th October, we enjoyed the Prep School’s Michaelmas Half Term Music Concert held in the Wykeham Hall. The concert aimed to give all musical pupils the opportunity to showcase their skills by playing and performing to a live audience. It was a chance for both our more advanced players and the upcoming young musicians to showcase their musical talents.

The evening started with an introduction from Mr Chitambo, Head of Prep Music Department, who welcomed parents and friends to the event. Next, we witnessed truly fantastic lineup performances on a range of instruments including violin, cello, clarinet, saxophone, and flute. The audience enjoyed a mixture of musical styles from classical pieces by Beethoven, V. Monti, Mozart, Friedrich Kuhlau and several other modern composers including a Jazz piece by Martha Mier as well as work from Japanese composer Joe Hisashi.

After a small interval, the concert resumed with a beautiful Daniel McNulty’s composition, Fantasia performed on the harp. This was followed by a stunning dance duet. The concert was rounded off in style with  Friedrich Kuhlau’s ‘Rondo 2nd movement from Sonatinas in A major, op. 59 no.1’ piano solo that was played skillfully. What a fabulous evening to see us into the half-term break!
