Jazz Charity Night

On Saturday 18th November, the College hosted the Jazz Charity Dinner – an opportunity for the MCM community to come together, celebrate and raise money for vital Outreach charities. The evening was a resounding success, with over 7000 RM raised on the night.

Upon arrival, guests were treated to an outdoor drinks reception, providing a chance to mingle and enjoy the delightful music played by our talented pupils. Shortly after, attendees were ushered to their seats in the transformed theatre, setting the stage for an evening of exquisite dining and jazz entertainment.

Throughout the event, the audience was treated to a series of captivating jazz sets in between courses. The opening performance by the Jazz Band featured enchanting renditions of Moondance, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Summertime, and concluded with the soulful notes of Runaway Baby, setting an upbeat tone for the night.

Following the first course, the focus shifted to a set dedicated to film soundtracks, showcasing masterful performances of Pink Panther, Libertango, Le Festin, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and L-O-V-E. The pupils’ dedication and weeks of practice were evident, highlighting the exceptional talent within the MCM community.

After a delectable main course of Chicken Roulade, Halibut, or Roasted Vegetable Wellington, the Senior Quintet took to the stage with renditions of Isn’t She Lovely, Yue Liang, Tico Tico, Detective Conan, and La Vie En Rose. Following a brief break for dessert, guests were treated to a musical feast featuring Smooth Operator, Can’t Help Falling In Love With You, Zapatos De Baile, Paco’s Canon, and Golden Wind. It was a truly remarkable evening, marking the inaugural event of its kind.

Special gratitude is extended to parent Lihyang Kim for her performance of ‘Moon River’ and to the Master for accompanying on the piano. We also wish to thank the Estates team for their tireless efforts behind the scenes.
