MCM Pupils Enjoy Record-breaking IGCSE Results
Last year’s Hundred (Year 11) at Marlborough College Malaysia have received the best set of IGCSE results in the school’s history.
This cohort’s average grade was an ‘A’, with 79% of all students taking Edexcel subjects getting an A or A* (5 percentage points higher than the 74% achieved in 2022). Overall, with Edexcel and Cambridge results combined, over half of our pupils received 5 or more A*s and 41% of our pupils received 9 or more A*/A grades. The overall pass rate was 97% and the average grade for the cohort is the highest in the school’s history.
As always, each and every pupil should be recognised and highly commended for their individual performances. Several pupils received an impressive straight set of A* grades.
This year group also had to overcome the challenges of online learning during the pandemic, during their Shell and Remove years, which makes these results even more impressive. A true testament to their resilience, perseverance and ambition. It should also be noted that last year’s grade boundaries were adjusted, favourably, to take the pandemic into consideration. This year grade boundaries returned to the tougher pre-pandemic levels.
The Master of the College, Mr Simon Burbury, commented: ‘It is with immense joy that I am able to extend my heartfelt congratulations to our Year 11 pupils on their outstanding IGCSE results. Their efforts underscore the excellence and academic rigour that defines the College, and their achievements inspire us all. These are an outstanding set of results by any standard. These results are a testament to the pupils’ hard work and determination, as well as the dedication of their beaks and other support staff in the College’s boarding houses. Congratulations, everyone.’
