Prize Day 2023

On the final day of the 2022/23 academic year, Marlborough College Malaysia welcomed pupils, parents and beaks from the Prep and Senior Schools to our annual Prize Day celebration. An important day in the life of the College, we celebrate the spectacular achievements of the year gone by. This year saw Prize Day attended by over 400 guests to see the culmination of all of the hard work of our pupils.

The morning began with a speech from the Master, a bittersweet moment as this will be his last as Master of MCM. Speaking of the success of the year gone by, and the anticipation for the next one to come, the Master welcomed Council members, pupils and parents alike to this important occasion.

Pupils from the Prep and Senior Schools received awards in many areas, including Sports, Arts, Outreach, Drama, Music, achievement and attainment. This year saw the introduction of the Stevens Art Award, an annual award given to a single pupil for technical excellence and creative expression in art. This year Mrs Stevens will present the trophy which is a stylised pewter sculpture of a Malaysian Hornbill. Art is outstanding in the College and has given us much pleasure over the years, which we wanted to acknowledge. This year this prestigious award goes to Karina who completed her GCSE Art this year, with skills and abilities that far exceeded her age. One pupil in every year group also received the Master’s award for all-round achievement and progress throughout the year.

There were some excellent musical performances throughout the event including by the Senior School Choir, a beautiful piece on the harp and vocal solos adding a wonderful musical note to the celebratory occasion. Chairman of Council, Y.A.M. Tunku Ali Redhauddin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz, then gave his speech on the past year at the College, remarking on our excellent academic and co-curricular performance, as well as bidding a fond farewell to Master Stevens.

A huge congratulations to all of the prize winners in every category and year group, and we look forward to seeing you back in August for another year of academic excellence, co-curricular success and much more.
