MCM Ski Trip 2023
During the first week of the April holidays, MCM took a ski party of 40 children from Year 7 to Lower Sixth to the ski slopes of Japan. Learning to ski, or developing skiing skills, is one of the best ways to spend a school holiday, surrounded by friends on the ski slopes of Japan.
Upon arrival, pupils explored the stunning Yuzawa region, and were warmly welcomed to the Takahan hotel, site of an ancient hot spring onsen and where the famous Nobel Prize winning author Yasunari Kawabat wrote the iconic “Snow Country.”
Head of Prep School and ski trip attendee Ms Eaton-Jones noted “From the moment we landed in Japan, we were welcomed with fabulous generosity and extraordinary attention to detail. We skied in snow and rain and sunshine – and explored a whole range of mountains.”
As the week progressed, pupils continued to take in the beautiful scenery, accompanied by a variety of delicious food, including a special birthday cake for one of our Remove pupils. The ski instructors at ‘Snow Country’ were inspiring and knowledgeable, making learning exciting so everyone made outstanding progress.
The fun continued long after pupils took off their skis, as numerous card and board games were played into the night, with friendly competition accompanied by pupils on the piano, it was truly an experience to remember. With a quiz night and karaoke, the pupils ended their trip with just as much fun as they began it with.
