Model United Nations 2023

On 24 and 25th of February, a delegation from Marlborough College Malaysia participated in the FOBISIA Model United Nations conference hosted by The ABC International School, Ho Chi Minh City. Model UN simulates a real-life UN scenario, as pupils work as the representatives of a country, organisation or person, and must solve problems with others from around the world.

Pupils from the Hundred and Lower Sixth represented countries as diverse as the USA, China, Pakistan and Somalia in a series of debates which encompassed gender-based violence, climate change, private gun ownership and a host of other contemporary political topics.

MUN aims to give students an opportunity to learn and practise critical transferable skills such as negotiation, public speaking and debate. We were delighted that two of our delegates were recognised for their exceptional performances, with Elisa receiving an ‘Honourable Mention’ in the Security Council and Linda being elected ‘Best Delegate’ in the General Assembly. Well done to all who participated in this year’s Model UN, with special congratulations to Elisa and Linda.
