Marlborough Mia: A CAS Production
In the weeks leading up to half term, Marlborough College Malaysia’s CAS pupils undertook a huge challenge in creating the production of Marlborough Mia. CAS is an element of the IB Diploma standing for Creativity, Action and Service. Pupils undertake various CAS projects over their time in the Sixth Form, including this extensive project of Marlborough Mia. The production featured pupils from throughout Senior School and was watched by hundreds of guests at their evening performances.
“On the 7th and 8th of February, the theatre opened its doors, to show the CAS Production, ‘Marlborough Mia’. The student-led production was an adaptation of a popular love story set in Greece to the soundtrack of ABBA. The script was written by our CAS leaders, Alfie and Zeynep, and music was arranged and directed by Alex. Meredith, Jasmine, and Isla made up the rest of the CAS team, and coordinated the performance with Senior School pupils. The process of rehearsing and creating the play took over six months, with rehearsals during Friday activities, as well as weekends and lunch times.
On the night we raised around 5000RM for Ang Tiong Loi Rotary Children’s Home through the sale of drinks, cookies, sweets, popcorn and programmes specially designed for the event. We gave all proceeds to the Childrens’ Home as we believe every child should be able to experience the joy of the theatre.
We would like to thank all the Drama staff, and everyone else who helped us in this project for their guidance and support, as well as the cast and stage crew for their brilliant talent, commitment and effort.”
