Spotlight On: Sports at MCM

It is a truth universally acknowledged that an MCM pupil, with an interest in sport, must be in want of competition; and competition we bring.

This week’s College Spotlight centres on Sports at MCM, in light of our recent Rugby 10s Straits and Netball Festival success. Sport is an integral part of life at MCM, and provides pupils with a plethora of opportunities to play at a high level against other local and international teams, or in a more comfortable, casual environment.

The range of sports on offer in Friday activities, sports class and co-curricular is truly unmatched. From traditional sports such as cricket, netball, rugby and tennis, to the more specialised activities of climbing, archery, abseiling and kayaking, the range of activities an MCM pupil can take part in is almost endless.

Participating in sporting activities at all ages has its benefits, and health or fitness is often the least important. Sport teaches pupils teamwork skills, boosts confidence, provides a channel for negative emotions to be expressed in a positive way, controls aggression, learning to lose or win and most of all, sports is fun.

As such an integral element of life at MCM, pupils should be encouraged to participate in any aspect of sporting life, from a calm swim in our pool, to a more intense Rugby 7s game, there really is a sport for everyone.
