Year 4 Residential 2022

In the final week before the first exeat of the 2022 Michaelmas term, Year 4 enjoyed a range of activities as part of their on-site residential trip. Pupils were able to experience a plethora of challenges and adventures on the lush 90 acres of grounds here at Marlborough College Malaysia.

The week began with survival skills in our forest school where pupils learnt how to build a shelter, find food and source water from the ground. They then went on to learn life-saving skills in the pool and how to use a snorkel properly.

I had loads of fun, I really liked the pool games” – Mattias

The evening drew in and pupils settled down in the Iskandar and Taylor houses for some pizza and began to relax, ready for another big day.

Tuesday brought with it the possibility of rain, however Year 4 were not deterred and stormed ahead with the steeplechase around the fields of MCM. Getting exceedingly wet and muddy they raced around the track, finishing with a slip and slide adventure.

For the final activities of the residential, pupils were taught about the plants that grow at Barton Farm and could try some of the produce. Sugar cane was a fan favourite with many children going back for seconds.

I really liked going to the farm. I loved the sugar cane!” – Martha

Year 4 finished the day with a more relaxing art activity. All pupils painted a series of circles and after everyone had completed this, all the pieces were chopped up to make one big masterpiece.

Overall, pupils had an excellent residential, filled with fun.

Sleeping at school with my friends was the best!” – Daniel

My favourite part was getting to go in the mud and down the slip and slide. It was so much fun!” – Jack
