Where are our Leavers now?
Once again, MCM pupils have exceeded expectations and will attend world-leading institutions for courses such as Medicine, Law and Engineering world-wide. Pupils will study in 6 countries in over 30 different courses, many at institutions that are in the World Top 100 for their course. As a new academic year begins, we look at where our leavers will be studying in just a week’s time.
Over half of our pupils are studying in the UK. Most UK applicants will study at a Russell Group University such as the University College London (UCL), University of Edinburgh and King’s College London, often popular choices for our pupils. These universities make up an elite selection in the UK and represent a specialisation in research-led education. These prestigious universities produce some of the country’s leading graduates in fields such as science, medicine, mathematics and more.
Many others will study at a specialist university such as the University of the Arts London, second in the world for Art and Design courses. Pupils will also attend universities in Singapore, Australia, The Netherlands, Canada and Malaysia.
Many of our pupils will attend a UK Top Ten university, and several have places at a World Top Ten university. 100% of our pupils who applied to Law courses were accepted into world-leading universities in the UK, such as Durham University, placed 5th in the UK and 49th in the world for Law, and King’s College London, 6th in the UK for Law. Medicine applications also saw a 100% success rate with MCM leavers beginning their medical courses in leading universities in the UK and, later in the year, in Australia.
For those studying in the UK, 86% of British passport holders were awarded domestic fee status. MCM, therefore, provides an excellent opportunity for pupils to have a British education in Malaysia, and still be classified as domestic citizens, meaning they will pay a significantly reduced fee for a UK university degree.
MCM’s leavers will study over 30 university courses across the year group. Many will study academic subjects such as English and Sciences, while others have chosen a vocational route in Finance or Business Management with one pupil attending NUS, ranked in the World Top 10 for business. The breadth of subject choices, facilitated by the range of options and skills provided at IB level at MCM, is truly telling of the capabilities of our pupils.
The education provided by MCM has enabled our leavers once again to attend some of the most highly regarded universities in the world and has given them the skills required to excel there. The Old Marlburian network connects all pupils from MCM and MCUK, providing further support and unique opportunities globally. We wish our leavers luck at university and hope to see them again at Marlburian Club events in the future.
