JASC Swimming Gala 2022

The beautiful morning of the 28th September brought with it the very first swimming gala of the new academic year. 27 MCM pupils travelled to Raffles American School who hosted the JASC gala for seven international schools. MCM performed exceptionally well with pupils winning nine races and finishing on the podium in 21 out of 36 races. This result means that in 30 out of 36 races, MCM was placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd, a set of excellent results.

The morning began with a warm up led by swim coaches Mr. Eaton-Jones and Miss. Vzquez. Pupils practised different strokes and familiarised themselves with the set up for relays. MCM got off to an excellent start with the boys’ and girls’ 25m backstroke, winning both. As the gala progressed there were some close calls between teams. In the girls’ 50m butterfly Amber won by 0.05 of a second, inching to victory against Repton.

As the gala came to an end, pupils cheered on their relay teams in the final event, winning one and placing the College in the top three in all others. It was a  highly successful day for MCM in the swimming pool. Not only did pupils exceed expectations, they also had a fun and exciting time, cheering on their fellow teammates and competing in their first swimming gala of the year.
