Year 7 Guernica Project | Art

Throughout the Lent Term, the Year 7 pupils at Marlborough College Malaysia studied Pablo Picasso and the Cubism art movement that he pioneered, with a specific focus on Guernica. The pupils learnt about the bombing of the Spanish town, Guernica, and how this event inspired Picasso.


Throughout the project, the pupils learnt how to use grids to break down an image and to help them create the correct proportions when drawing and painting. As part of the collaborative project, each pupil was given a square of the Guernica painting which they had to recreate. This was painted onto cardboard boxes, which were used to create an impressive wall of artwork in the Prep Art Cafe.
