Sixth Form Supper | Senior School

On Saturday 12th March the Marlburian Committee was delighted to host a Sixth Form Supper. This is a chance for our Sixth Form to dress up and be treated to a night of fine food and extravagant entertainment. The theme this term was The Great Gatsby, which gave plenty of scope for some glamorous ‘Roaring 20s’ costumes. Our pupils did not hold back, with sequins, feather boas and even a gang of ‘Peaky Blinders’ all making an appearance. The event was held in the stunningly decorated outdoor Prep Dining Area to ensure that it was the safest environment for our pupils.

Due to the current SOPs, the pupils were required to remain seated for the evening, which enabled the focus of the evening to be on the performances on stage. First up was Sora, who played a beautiful solo on the violin as the guests arrived and took their seats. Following a sumptuous first course, a professional magician and illusionist dazzled the guests with his stage act, which featured some amazing card skills, vanishing doves, and levitation.

After the main course, it was time for the award ceremony where a number of prizes were eagerly anticipated. After conducting a live vote using a QR code on each table, the pupils voted for the best-dressed male and female from both Lower and Upper Sixth, the top nominees were given an opportunity to show off their costumes. The Marlburian Committee voted on the top prize of the ‘The Greatest Gatsby’, which was awarded to Sophia R. for her fabulous costume, which she had made for the event.

The final act of the evening was a performance from the staff band, BPM. The band performed classics, such as Sweet Caroline, and Angels, with a stunning guitar solo from Mr Ulysses for Sweet Child O’ Mine. It was a wonderful way to wrap up the evening, with pupils singing along, and having a little boogie in their seats.

The whole evening was a fantastic way to celebrate being in Marlborough’s Sixth Form.
