On Saturday 11th December, the Marlburian Committee were delighted to host the SOP-friendly 2021 Sixth Form Christmas Dinner. After a two year hiatus, the prospect of holding such an event made it even more hotly anticipated than ever and gave our Sixth Form pupils the opportunity to gather after what has been a very challenging, but ultimately rewarding Michaelmas term.
Still acutely aware of the prevailing conditions, the event was planned in great detail by the Marlburian Committee, a team of dedicated volunteer pupils, whose express aim was to provide as much entertainment as possible within the prevailing restrictions.
With this in mind, an exciting itinerary was presented that included festive Poké bowls and superb live music from our in-house band, ‘Cowboy Texter and the Silver Bullets.’ A fantastic talent show followed, featuring Matthew with his one-legged, blindfolded, violin playing act, an amazing dance routine from Anis and some outstanding yo-yo skills from Ren. Trophies were then awarded to our two ‘best dressed’ Sixth Formers, Matthew and Haziqah. A live raffle, hosted by the Outreach team throughout the night, raised over RM1600 for our chosen charities. Due to popular demand, the event was rounded off with a karaoke session (featuring some rather dubious singing) and to end the evening, a rousing rendition of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ (very impressive despite mask-wearing) sent everyone home on a high.
The event was a great success with our Sixth Formers doing themselves proud and it provided a welcome chance to share good times with each other.
