Economics & Leadership Forum 2021
Justin Lavigne, Kaitlyn Strika, Sophia Riaz, and Ethan Choi participated in a case study competition from the Economics & Leadership Forum, which took place during the College Summer break on the 25th of July.
From the 150 applicants who applied, only 64 were shortlisted to participate. The selected teams were made up of Sixth Form and university students studying Economics/Finance in Malaysia. Our pupils, who have recently completed their IGCSE studies, were the youngest in the competition.
The final round of the competition was judged by industry leaders; Mahuran Saro Sariki, Head of Group Research, Development & Policy and Head of Malaysian Professional Talent at Talent Corp, Soo Fern Lee, EY Asean Diversity & Inclusiveness Leader, and Loh Wei Yuen, the Head of ICAEW Malaysia.
We are proud to share that our pupils achieved second place in the competition and impressed the judges with their confidence and the quality of their answers. Achieving such an accolade is a testament to both our brilliant pupils and the breadth of teaching provided by the Economics & Business Studies Department at Marlborough College Malaysia.
“This is a fantastic achievement by the students, particularly given that they had only just completed their IGCSE courses. They have already made an impressive start to their IB courses in Economics and Business and clearly have a passion for the subject area. They are developing this further with the setting up of a new Economics and Business Society where they are looking to organise guest speakers from the world of business and produce a termly magazine focusing on Business and Economic issues.”
