Pirate Day | Reception

Avast Ye!

Pupils in Reception celebrated their latest topic of ‘Pirates’ by holding a themed day on Thursday.

A busy morning was spent creating giant ‘pirate ships’ in the Green Hall with gym equipment, using ladders to make rigging and masts, mats to make the bows and gym horses for crows nests.

X marked the spot for the treasure hunt around the school with the pupils excitedly reading clues to work out where to go next.

A Pirate Pool Party followed where the pupils dived for ‘treasure’, walked the ‘plank’ and had boat races.

In the afternoon, they battened down the hatches and the pupils made ‘ships biscuits’ and were shocked to find that worms (jelly sweets) had managed to make their way into the biscuits, just like on a real pirate ship! A busy and fun day was enjoyed by everyone.
