Over 40 Marlborough College Malaysia Sixth form students were privileged to have an online talk from Associate Prof. Dr Ronan Gleeson, Head of Department, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) & University College Dublin (UCD) based in Penang, as part of their Careers programme.

Professor Gleeson has worked in London, Melbourne, Dublin and now Penang. He was awarded MD on the basis of four years of research during his time at Hammersmith Hospital in London before taking a position in the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. He returned to Ireland in 1991 as assistant master in the Rotunda Hospital and was appointed to a consultant / senior lecturer post in 1995. He has been convenor of postgraduate meetings in the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from 1993 – 1995 and Honorary Secretary of the Institute from 1995 – 1998. He represented the Institute on the European Board & College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG) for three years.

“This was an excellent opportunity for our students to gain insight from an expert with worldwide experience. Many students go on to study Medicine at top universities across the world once they leave MCM,” said The Master, Mr Alan Stevens.
