On Sunday 8th November the boarding community joined together at dawn in an Act of Remembrance on Court.
Sora in Year 12 commenced the service playing Schindler’s List on the violin. The Master, Mr Alan Stevens led the service which included poignant readings from both pupils and Beaks with Ms Goh, of the British Council as our honoured guest.
The congregation came together in singing Abide With Me and I Vow to Thee My Country. Mr McDiarmid piped The Flowers of the Forest on the bagpipes prior to the Last Post from pupil Olivier, year 8, echoing in the morning light to signal the minute silence.
Alongside the two wreaths laid by The Master and Mr Greg Holden, pupils laid 75 crosses to pay their respects for the 749 Marlborough College pupils, Beaks and staff who lost their lives during the Great War, 1914-1918.
The whole College will join together, via online assemblies to mark Remembrance Day Wednesday 11th November.
