A Conversation with Jason Roy | Sport

Following on from the first MCM Sports ‘conversation with’ last week. 90 pupils, parents and Beaks logged on to listen to Jamie Lennard speak with  Jason Roy, England Cricket,  World Cup Winner yesterday afternoon.

In the fascinating talk, Mr Lennard and Jason discussed how he handled the pressure of delivering the throw that won England the World Cup Final, running out New Zealand’s Martin Guptill and cementing the England team in sporting history forever.

Jason discussed his emotions as he reflected on experiences, early childhood moments which have impacted his career and how honesty underpins everything that the England team stand for.

Jason’s stats include:

  • Ranked 11th best in the world ODI (One Day International) Highest ODI (50 over match) innings.
  • 180 runs off 151 balls at the Melbourne cricket ground with Joe Root (221 partnership).
  • An all time best opening partnership of 256 with Alex Hales against Sri Lanka in 2016, which was the highest successful run chase without losing a wicket in ODIs. It is also the highest partnership for England for any wicket in ODIs.
  • Scored 4,832 runs in First-Class Cricket
  • Notching up 87 One Day Internationals and 35 T20 International appearances and of course is an England World Cup Winner, 2019.

We look forward to conversations with not one but two Olympic 2016 swimming medalists after half term.
