The IB Theatre Arts Upper Sixth pupils hosted invited audiences in the Theatre last week, to debut their Solo Performance Pieces. The tremendous effort and thought that had gone into the process from start to finish was clearly on display, with exceptional work and effective communication taking place.
As part of the task students must research key aspects of practitioner theory; work this year was based on Jerzy Grotowski, Jacques Lecoq, Steven Berkoff, Bertolt Brecht, Vsevolod Meyerhold and Antonin Artaud.
Following the performances thoughtful Q&A sessions were run by each student, which will allow them to reflect on the impact their work had on audience members as they complete the 3000 word report that needs to be submitted to the IB.
The collective strong body of work attests to the commitment that the whole class have demonstrated over the course of their studies and we are now looking forward to seeing their Collaborative Pieces, which will be showcased in March.
