On Sunday 8th December, the Wykeham Hall assumed a festive air with traditional decorations, mince pies and mulled wine. A congregation joined over 90 boys and girls from the College’s choirs with accompanists as Marlborough College Malaysia celebrated its Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
Following a welcome from the Master and opened by Ven. E. John, the College Chaplain, Ella-Mae Cox opened the service in time-honoured manner with a solo of the first verse of “Once in Royal David’s City.” A range of carols were performed by the choirs, while the congregation had lots of opportunity to join in many old favourites such as “Joy To The World” and “Good King Wenceslas.” Reilly Grose-Hodge and Meredith Regan’s sang a beautiful duet of “O Holy Night”.
The lessons were beautifully read by Poppy Inskip (Year 6), Oliver Bhogul (Year 7), Edward Mercurio (Year 8), Nur Faruki (Hundred), Shyam Bhuller and Daria Nekrasova (Senior Prefects) and by Mr Nick Eatough (Head of Senior School) and Mrs Rachel Eaton-Jones (Head of Prep School) with the Ninth Lesson being delivered by Mr Stevens, the Master.
The retiring collection was in aid of Ang Tiong Loi-Rotary Children’s Home and The Johor Cheshire Home.
The Master, Mrs Stevens and all the staff of Marlborough College Malaysia wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
