70 boarders and beaks travelled to the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium to watch GB U21s play against Malaysia U21s in the annual Sultan of Johor Cup. The excitement and energy amongst the pupils was palpable as we arrived for the warm-up. The opportunity to watch international sport and meet the players personally afterwards was fantastic. The conversations with the pupils ranged from discussions about individual pathways in professional sport, training plans and also managing nerves. The pupils also enjoyed listening to the players reflect on their own performance in the game. A massive ‘thank you’ should be extended to GB Hockey for their support and a huge congratulations on winning 2-1 against India in the final. We look forward to welcoming the GB U21s team back next year to train at our College facility.
