Music has a power of forming the character and should therefore be introduced into the education of the young. (Aristotle)
On Friday, 3rd May, the Prep School hosted its final Tea Concert of the academic year. Thirteen young musicians from our upper Prep year groups took to the stage in the Wykeham Hall to create a contrasting yet well-balanced concert.
Every child within the Prep School experiences a combination of classroom teaching, instrumental and vocal tuition and is given the opportunity to play in ensembles and choirs.
Great music education is a partnership between classroom teachers, specialist teachers and the children themselves. Our termly Tea Concerts offer the perfect opportunity for our pupils to express themselves as individuals and to allow them to perform to a small audience, providing a stepping stone towards larger public performances and competing in competitions and exams. These are skills that will be beneficial for life, not just for music, but later on in the workplace.
We would like to thank all of those who have showcased their talents this academic year and for their continued efforts towards making the Prep School Music department at Marlborough College Malaysia so successful.
